Your trip in St Barts
You can visit St. Barts either by plane or by boat
There are several airports allowing you to visit St. Barts (St. Maarten, Guadeloupe, St. Thomas, San Juan and Antigua).
Juliana airport in St. Maarten (Dutch side) is the most practical airport when you arrive from Europe or the United States.
From St. Maarten, two airline companies (Winair and St.Barth Commuter) make several connections a day in only 15 minutes. From Guadeloupe, Air Antilles Express offers a flight around 50 minutes.
From Antigua, St. Barth Commuter and Tradewind Aviation make daily flights. Finally, from San Juan airport, Tradewind Aviation is the only company to propose a flight for St. Barts.
By ferry boat
From St. Maarten you can take a ferry. There are two companies that make several trips each day.
The Voyager goes St. Barts from Marigot in an hour and a half . The Great Bay Express leaves from Bobby’s Marina (St. Maarten Dutch side) makes the connection in 40 minutes.
There are also companies offering private transfers between both islands. The time of the crossing varies between one hour and one hour and a half depending to the boat model and weather conditions.
Local official currency is the Euro however, most of the local shops & business accepts US Dollars.
The standard voltage is 220 V and the standard frequency is 60 Hz. Do not hesitate to ask if you need power plug adapter.
You can use your own cell phone in St Barth but note that your operator may overcharge your according to your contract. Otherwise, you can decide to buy a local cell phone and SIM card. The largest supermarket is Marché U in front the St Jean airport. You will find anything you need there. However, there is also several other supermarkets around the island and you will always find one next to your IDEAL Villa.
